  • How to sleep better

    Dear X,
    I found a way to sleep better.
    1. No coffee or tea before bed(at least 2 hours aforementioned nighty night)
    2. Do not stare at the illuminated things(alarm clock, digital watch, mobile phones or computer screens)
    3. No racy topics or dramatic television shows(the news may count) before bed.
    4. Less spicy and ulcer creating meals
    5. Wear stretchy, non-irritating clothes to bed
    6. Fix temperature of the room to a bit cooler than room temperature
    7. Have a humidifier if your nose or throat feels dry
    8. Take a shower before bed
    9. Use a journal to write down last thoughts of the day(negative ones, things you are grateful for, ideas of what to purchase at the grocery store, things to worry about tomorrow, things you may forget)
    10. Place an absolutely boring book next to your bed(too interesting and you'll be up all night)
    11. Have a friend massage your back or better yet do some yoga before bed.
    In emergencies, when you have to wake up early for a flight or work or something urgent:
    12.Have Dream Water handy(in case half an hour passes and you truly cannot fall asleep)
    13.Use Melatonin(one pill only!) if you can't sleep past 1 hour
    14. Pick a random number between 2000 and 3000 and count backwards in primes or multiples of 7.

  • Insomnia tonight

    Hey X,
    I can't sleep tonight. Could it be that I'm getting married soon? Or is it that impending unfinished 10 page paper hanging over my head, whispering(well screaming actually) please finish my paper. It's just that I can't find time to get it all done. I wish I had a 36 hour day, then I think I could get it all done. I'm happy that you X understand that sometimes life is a struggle. You cannot be perfect all the time, but oh do we try. I'm pretty upset that I left my keys at home and need to find someone to let me in. Possibly, because now my life revolves around whom ever's kind enough to let me in. Oh the things that I do. I could beat myself up for not doing anything or even spending money on a salad that fits in the palm of my hand. The food at Epistrophy was not awesome, but it's quiet, dim, charismatic atmosphere was pretty wicked. =)

  • The wait for vacation

    Dear X,
    I have hope.  I read this book about top performers' thought on attitude.  I realized that they know that things will just work out.  They do not waste time worrying or thinking about the past, but of how they can change the current time and the future.  They dream.  They imagine things.  They want more for themselves, for others, for people who they don't know.  They believe in themselves and others.  They see more from any situation.  They step away with more lessons and don't mind making mistakes or some failure along the way.  I want to stop thinking about things that I'm doing incorrectly and start to focus my thinking from my heart.  I would like to eliminate and if I cannot lower the amount of stress in my life.  I want to help others help themselves and learn to love one another.

  • Fun stuff

    Dear X,
    I just started back at school.  I've got three homework assignments. I need to learn to motivate myself to sit down and get serious about graduate study.  I have about 30 credits more to finish including comprehensive exams.  I also have to fulfill a foreign language requirement.  I am going to come up with a plan which makes it canny for me to pass these courses.  I want a study regiment that is fun and also not too stressful.  Let me think...I could intersperse my studies with yummy snacks.  I could also try to avoid all types of television and eating junk food.  I am so happy from yesterday night when my boyfriend took me out for sushi dinner and dessert which was a delicious ethereal banana cream pie from sweet melissa.  I love it when he does wonderful caring things for me.
